About Space

1. What is Space?

Space is a server that we run to host the "Shared works" in the app.

In the standard space, all users can share their works for free. For this reason, you cannot share works privately, such as only inside the classroom.

If you create a Space, you can share your works among users with the same settings, so you can easily share in private!!

2. How do you set the Space in the app?

Tap "Settings" from "Parents/Teachers" at the bottom right of the app's menu screen.

Scroll down the settings dialog and set the item "App ID".

3. What is "Require approval" in my space?

When "Require approval" is activated, a user can not view "Shared works" or share a work until you approve them from the user settings.

4. What is "Hide view count" in the space settings?

When "Hide view count" is enabled, the display of the number of views and the number of likes will be 0 in "Shared works".

5. What is the "Remaining days" in my Space?

Indicates how many days the Space will be available.

6. Can I extend the "Remaining days" in my space?

If the Space will expire within 30 days, the "+ Remaining days" button will appear and you can extend it.

When extending, the maximum number of users at that time will be inherited. Remaining days can be stocked up to 2 years.

7. What is the "Users count" in a Space?

Shows the number of users who have used the Space from the app.

Please note that it is the cumulative number of uses, not the number of simultaneous uses.

When the number of users approaches the maximum number, "Release" users who are not planning to use it in the future, and reduce the number of users.

8. What is the "Max users" in a Space?

Indicates the maximum number of Space users.

When the number of users approaches the maximum number, "Release" users who are not planning to use it in the future, and reduce the number of users.

9. Can I extend the "Max users" in my Space?

It can be expanded. However, reduction is not possible.

When expanding, please select the number of users. It can be expanded up to 1000 users.

When expanding to more than 1000 users, please contact us as we will respond individually.

10. What happens if you "Release" in the user settings?

The number of Space users is reduced, and other users can use the Space accordingly.

Please be aware that works shared by released users will not be visible from shared works.

11. What happens if you "Approve" in the user settings?

Allowing users to view and share their work.

12. What happens if you "Approve all" in the user settings?

All users "Waiting for approval" in the space will be approved.

13. What happens if I press "receipt" in my order history?

We will send a receipt email of the order to the registered email address.

14. How to view original "Shared works"?

Set the item "App ID" as "com.programmingzemi" in the app settings. If you set your device policy to your school, then you will not be able to see works by those not in your school.

15. What is "Number of Teacher Users" in the Space?

This is the number of users who may connect to the Space from the app in Teacher Mode.

If you reach the maximum limit for the number of Teacher Users, make users who do not need Teacher Mode into Students, and reduce the number of Teacher Users.

16. What is "Maximum Teacher Users"?

This is the maximum number of users who may use Teacher Mode in the Space.

If you reach the maximum limit for the number of Teacher Users, make users who do not need Teacher Mode into Students, and reduce the number of Teacher Users.

17. I am not able to tap the "Make a Teacher" or "Make a Student" buttons in the user management screen.

When the Number of Teacher Users reaches the maximum number, then the "Make a Teacher" button is disabled. Tap the "Make a Student" button for a user who is a Teacher to reduce the number of Teacher Users.

Also, if a user is currently active, then the "Make a Teacher" and "Make a Student" buttons will be disabled. Users are shown as being active while they are using the app. Tapping "Back" on the bottom left of the menu and returning to the list of users will cause the user to no longer be active.

18. What is Backup Token in the user management screen?

Backup Token is a code to take over the user to another device.
First, press and hold the user you want to take over with the application for 8 seconds or more, and enter the code with the "Upload" button. Do not exit the app until you have uploaded all the user's data.
Next, press and hold "Add User" for 8 seconds or longer in the application of another device, and enter the same code with the "Download" button. Do not exit the app until you have downloaded all of your data.

19. What is the "Device policy" in space settings?

This is the policy that is set when a device connects to a space. If you set your device policy to your school, then that device will no longer be able to connect to spaces that allow anyone to share works. This means you will be able to block that device from seeing works from people you do not know. You can also change the device policy for each individual user through the user management screen.

20. What is the "For School" setting in user management?

If you tap "For School" then the policy for that device will be set to your school, and the device will no longer be able to connect to spaces that allow anyone to share works. This means you will be able to block that device from seeing works from people you do not know.

Teacher Mode

1. What is Teacher Mode?

Teacher Mode is a function in the app to develop teaching materials.
Tapping "Make a Teacher" for a user, assuming that the number of Teacher Users is not at maximum, means that the next time the user logs in to the app they will be in Teacher Mode.
In Teacher Mode, users may limit the blocks that may be used, hide Event blocks and Create blocks, and change colors of Create blocks. These users may also hide some sprites or make them unmovable.

Open a Work as a Teacher, then tap on the sprite gear button to edit the blocks that are shown.

9. How can I make it so that taking photos or recordings for sprites is not possible?

Tap on the Work gear button and edit through the Work settings.

10. App does not change to Teacher Mode

To get the app that enables Teacher Mode, go to the PC version download page at https://programmingzemi.com/download_pc.html and download the Windows version or Android version or mac version. Please inquire separately for the iOS version.

11. I cannot tap the "Make a Teacher" button.

The "Make a Teacher" button cannot be tapped when certain users are on the app.
From the menu of the app, tap the "Back" button to go back to the user list.
If you close the app without tapping "Back," then open the app again, select the relevant user, and then tap "Back" to end the session for that relevant user.

Linking with Google Classroom

1. What does it mean to link with Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is a simple, easy-to-use tool to support teacher management of class.

If you link Programming Zemi and Google Classroom, then the teacher can make assignments using the Programming Zemi Web UI, and students can turn in their assignments using the app. Teachers can also use the Google Classroom web UI to check, return, and grade assignments, so linking Programming Zemi and Google Classroom helps both teachers and students to study programming more effectively.

2. I can't find the "Link with Google Classroom" button on the space management page.

Linking to Google Classroom is only possible when Teacher Mode is enabled in your space. Make sure your maximum number of teachers is at least one in your space settings.

3. How do I link with Google Classroom?

1. Log in to Google Classroom as a Teacher and create a class.
2. Log in to Google Classroom as a Student and join the class.
3. Link the Programming Zemi space and Google Classroom class.
4. Create an assignment in the Programming Zemi space.
5. Link with the Google Classroom class on the Programming Zemi app.
6. Turn in the assignment on the Programming Zemi app.
7. Log in to Google Classroom as a Teacher and check the turned in assignments.

4. I am getting "invalid_grant" error message.

Tap "Cancel Google Token" in the top right menu, and try linking with Google Classroom again.

About Parental Control

1. What are device groups?

Device groups are groups that allow the settings for devices to be applied to a group of devices.
Users can change settings within the app, so even if a parent or guardian turns off the sharing of works, the child can change that setting at will and share works.
If you create a device group and register devices you can apply settings to a group of devices, allowing for easy implementation of parental controls.

2. How do I register devices in the app?

From the app menu on the bottom right select Parents / Teachers, then Settings.
Under Parental Controls, select Register Device. You can also use a QR code.

3. What is "Time limit (minutes)" for the device group settings?

If you input a number for the Time limit (in minutes) then after that amount of time has elapsed the app will notify the user that it will shut down, and the user will not be able to use the app any more that day.
If you input 0 then there will be no time limit. If left blank, then the setting for the app will be applied.

4. What is "Allow sharing" in the device group settings?

If you set this to Yes then collaboration plan content with other services is enabled. Only content within the app is enabled, and there is no link with other apps or web pages.
If you set this to No then collaboration plan content cannot be viewed.
If there is no setting, then the setting for the app will be applied.

5. What is "Allow special content" within device group settings?

If you set this to Yes then spcial content with other services is enabled. Only content within the app is enabled, and there is no link with other apps or web pages.
If you set this to No then special content cannot be viewed.
If there is no setting, then the setting for Allow special content within the app will be applied.

6. What is "Level" within device group settings?

If you raise the level the number of usable blocks increases.
If you set the level to 999, then experimental blocks such as arrays can also be used.
If left blank, then the setting for the app will be applied.

7. What is "App ID" within device group settings?

When sharing privately, this indicates a space created on the site.
When sharing a standard space, it indicates com.programmingzemi.
If left blank, then the setting for the app will be applied.

8. What is the "Remaining days" in my device group?

This indicates how many more days the device group may be used.

9. Can I extend the "Remaining days" in my device group?

When the number of remaining days is less than 30 then a button for "+Remaining days" will be shown to allow extension.
If you extend the maximum number of devices will be maintained. The maximum number of days that can be stocked is two years worth.

10. What is the "Devices count" in a device group?

This shows the number of registered devices in a device group.
This is not the number of devices being used at the same time. It indicates the cumulative number of devices that have been used.
When the number of devices used approaches the maximum number of devices, please release devices that you do not intend to use in the future to reduce the number of devices used.

11. What is the "Max devices" in a device group?

This is the maximum permissible value for the number of users of a device group.
When the number of devices used approaches the maximum number of devices, please release devices that you do not intend to use in the future to reduce the number of devices used.

12. Can I extend the "Max devices" in my device group?

Yes. However, it cannot be reduced.
If you wish to increase the maximum please select the desired number. The maximum cannot be increased beyond 1,000.
If you wish to increase the maximum to 1,000 or more please send an inquiry and we will handle it on a case-by-case basis.

13. What happens if you "Release" in the device settings?

Devices released will not longer have their settings updated to reflect the device group settings.
The number of devices used in the device group will decrease, enabling other devices to be registered to the device group.

14. What happens if I press "receipt" in my order history?

We will send a receipt email of the order to the registered email address.

15. Do you accomodate iOS Managed App Configuration?

Yes. If you distribute the device with a registration code in the deviceRegistrationCode key in the Managed App Configuration and select the user after launching the app, the device will be registered with the registration code.

16. What is "Time limit (minutes)" in the device settings?

Back
